James Alfred Pearce was born on Dec. 14, 1805 in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a senator through 1843 to his death in 1862. He was an avid supporter of education and served on Washington College's Board of Visitors of Governors for many years. This is the collection of the letters written to and from him.
